A Sunday afternoon :)
I was never sure if he hoped for what he got for his birthday or for Christmas, or this 'thing' he possesses had something to do with it. But the odd time, he seemed to know. Even if you put a box inside another box to sort of disguise what it might be. He knew anyways.
Today was no different.
I never said a word about the parade I was going to take him to today. Not one word. I heard about it on the radio in the car the other day. Checked the towns website today to find what the parade route was while he was in the shower. About ten to one, all I said to him was "we're going to go out in the car shortly. Make sure you wear a sweater."
So what does he do ?
He signs Santa Claus. (the motion of a man running his hand down his beard)
geeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz Before we even get out the door ? So not fair but I should have known he would 'know'.
Grab hot chocolate and off we go. Took a few minutes to find a parking spot as everybody else in the county had the same idea of going early and finding a parking spot. Lock up the car and we start walking to downtown Collingwood.
Was only there a couple minutes, sipping our hot chocolates, finally convincing Billy to put on his gloves and toque when his friend Paddy came up and signed 'hi'.
Cooool. Hi Paddy. And there's mom and dad right behind him. Billy bowls with Paddy Sunday afternoons (cancelled today because of the parade) and Paddy's dad always picks up Billy and drops him back off. And this family has had Billy over for dinners, parties, and sleep overs many times too.
We all moved off the corner Billy and I were standing on, hoping for a spot where the wind wouldn't whistle through us. No such luck though. Seems the wind was howling all the way down that street, leaving us nowhere else to go as that was the parade route. The bands and walkers in the parade were walking into the wind, so that must have been rough for them. It would have been a nice day, -1c low 30's F, if it wasn't for that wind. Instead, it felt a lot colder.
Paddy doesn't talk and wears hearing aids, so he and his parents are pretty fluent in sign language. Paddy's hands are flying as each float goes by, so I picked up a couple new signs. One being fire truck :D
The parade had been passing by with assorted trucks hauling trailers decorated with trees, fake snow and kids, local high school band, gymnasts etc etc .. you know how it goes. I did feel bad for the two bagpipe bands wearing their kilts. Bare legs and that wind? brrrrrr. And me being me (weird? lol), I had hoped they thought to put on warm shorts under their kilts at least. No leotards or anything for them. Hardy bunch of people you could say, when everybody else was bundled up in their snowsuits etc.
The parade had being going on for about forty minutes when Paddy's mom, Roseanne, asked if I thought Billy would like to go home with them, have dinner, stay over, and she'll take the two boys to the life skills program tomorrow as she is off work tomorrow.
Awwww that's real sweet of you. I don't have a change of clothes or anything for Billy with me. She says that's ok as Billy and Paddy are about the same height and size, if I was okay if Billy wore something of Paddy's.
So, after Santa finally went by at the fifty minute mark of the parade, I asked Billy what he thought of going with Paddy to his house .... big smile out of Billy ... sleep over ........ still smiling ... and Paddy's mom would take him to life skills tomorrow. The kid never quit smiling ! He might love his mom but .............. hahahahaha
Needless to say, I left the parade by myself, walked to where I parked the car and came home to an empty place after a couple quick stops.
Which I didn't mind in the least. It's awesome that Billy has Paddy for a friend. They get along so well. And Paddy's parents have truly taken Billy into their home and their hearts. Which I will always be very thankful for.

Ok ....
I will give anybody lucky (or unlucky) enough to get notifications that I posted a bunch of blogs some time off from me moving any more over.
That is if there is any left to move.
Oh, wait, there might be. But tomorrow.
If I had been smarter, I could have just done them one or two a day over time and not worry about what I was going to blog about next eh?? *wink*
Kidding. Wouldn't put you through all that .... again !!! hahaha
I was holding off for a bit, delaying transforming them over to here. But several things recently made me change my mind.
One being Yahoo's experiment with Mush ... errr Mash. Sorry, I wasn't very keen on it and having the ability to make up a page for someone/them changing things around on your page etc, sort of rubbed me the wrong way. If I go to the trouble of setting up a page to my liking, best friends or not, don't think I would want you to come along and re-do it for me haha. And who is to say their replacement won't be much of the same idea ?? Won't know for certain until the grand unveiling.
Then there were experiences in other places within Yahooland that had gotten me very disenchanted with them. While not really experiencing a whole lot of bugs with 360, have read enough that many people did. But I did experience the feeds stalling, typing away in a blog - only to have the page take forever to post - to find out it didn't. Another yahoo product I had gotten involved in, which led to discussions in a forum, which led to discussions in a group about said product and yahoo basically yawning into their hand and patting us on the tush as they shuffled us along and out the door.
And yes, I do use their messenger. Unless all my contacts are willing to head on over to the MSN messenger, I'll continue to use it. But I used to go into their chat rooms (another long story) and their handling of the bots (spammers) sort of didn't make it an enjoyable experience unless you were lucky enough to have Ytunnel and could make them disappear. Now, 4 years later, they're trying to get a handle on them. (about time !!)
So not exactly sure I want to wait for their next "new-and-improved" beta product, find out I don't like it and move my blogs here then.
And it wasn't like I had nothing to do today other than to move my blogs over.
I just decided to practice my procrastination option and chose to ignore it. But I know I'll pay for it in a day or two when I'm rushing to get it done then.
Happy Birthday - Wish You Were Here
But why now to connect it to my other 360? My friend would have turned 58 December 13th if he had stayed with us. I still miss our talks, even though I didn't see him much the last couple of months. He'd be happy to know that I have found other friends that I enjoy spending time with, embarked on other things to keep me busy. Finally got that correspondence course going and doing well with it.
So I am thanking the person who helped me find some self-esteem, some self-confidence and helped me on the path to finding myself again. I may not be complete, but I am on my way.

Posted May 4, 2006
I am at a bit of a loss today as I just found out a friend of over 2 years had passed away in April. His health had prevented him staying online and in touch with those that knew and loved him for the past 6 months or so.
So many memories came flying back of the times we spent together, either one on one, or part of a group. The laughter, the lessons, the music we shared, all revealing the person each of us are, if we chose to be honest with ourselves and with the people we were with.
I will never forget how he looked into my soul, found some answers that I didn't know was there, and made me take a deeper look for the person I had lost for many years. The questions he asked to make me understand myself better. And the questions I asked to understand him better, sometimes, cautiously answered.
And the joking back and forth about "dust bunnies" as if they were real creatures he lived with. He talking about the parties and orgies (the bunnies, not him lol) and the hugs and secrets the bunnies and I shared. How they would crowd the computer screen, looking for my hugs, so that he couldn't see. hehehe
He was a complex man and at the same time living life very simply. Having lived the life he did, learning who the man was inside his shell.
They say that friends enter your life for a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime. Knows he came into my life for a reason, for a season, and I won't soon forget him either.
This "Canookian" will continue to miss that "Amookian". Be at peace Bill. I will be ok, even tho you are scratching your head with me today. All the talks we had about death being a natural end etc etc., and I threw all that out the window this morning. Yes, I did cry for you. Even tho I had never really cried or mourned anyone's passing before. It's the realization that you've left us, too soon, even though the fates said it was your time. You didn't understand it, but you meant so much to me and was proud to have called you "friend".
Just being quirky
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BUT PROBABLY DON'T:
1 . Money isn't made out of paper, it's made out of cotton.. (probably why it goes thru the washer so well)
2. The Declaration of Independence was written on hemp (marijuana) paper. (and someone hasn't smoked it yet?)
3. The dot over the letter I is called a "tittle". (go figure, it's not a dot - looks like a dot to me)
4. A raisin dropped in a glass of fresh champagne will bounce up and down continuously from the bottom of the glass to the top. (one happy & drunk raisin?)
5. Susan Lucci is the daughter of Phyllis Diller. (this I knew but still cool)
6. 40% of McDonald's profits come from the sales of Happy Meals. (this blows me away)
7. 315 entries in Webster's 1996 Dictionary were misspelled. (the editing staff needs edumacating in this area?)
8. The 'spot' on 7UP comes from its inventor, who had red eyes. He was albino.
9. On average, 12 newborns will be given to the wrong parents, daily. (always thought I was the oddball in the family .. now I know why)
10. Warren Beatty and Shirley MacLaine are brother and sister. (cool also)
11. Chocolate affects a dog's heart and nervous system; a few ounces will kill a small sized dog. (and no matter how much the guy begs, I'm not sharing! oh sorry, wrong dog hahaha)
12. Orcas (killer whales) kill sharks by torpedoing up into the shark's stomach from underneath, causing the shark to explode. (can you say messy?)
13. Most lipstick contains fish scales (eeww). (and people wonder why I don't wear the stuff .... ewwww is right)
14. Donald Duck comics were banned from Finland because he doesn't wear pants. (not that he shows anything but his tail feathers hahaha)
15. Ketchup was sold in the 1830's as medicine. (with french fries as a chaser?)
16. Upper and lower case letters are named 'upper' and 'lower' because in the time when all original print had to be set in individual letters, the 'upper case' letters were stored in the case on top of the case that stored the smaller, 'lower case' letters. (would put a new twist on printing and typing if it had been reversed)
17. Leonardo DA Vinci could write with one hand and draw with the other at the same time (hence, multi-tasking was invented.)
18. Because metal was scarce, the Oscars given out during World War II were made of wood. (hmmm termite food?)
19. There are no clocks in Las Vegas gambling casinos. (nobody would hear the cuckoo anyways)
20. The name Wendy was made up for the book Peter Pan; there was never a recorded Wendy before! (so who was the girl that got away then?)
21. There are no words in the dictionary that rhyme with: orange, purple, and silver! (not that would mean anything or make sense anyways)
22. Leonardo Da Vinci invented scissors. Also, it took him 10 years to paint Mona Lisa's lips. (it was the fish scales that made her run off - no color inspiration for him)
23. A tiny amount of liquor on a scorpion will make it instantly go mad and sting itself to death. (I know what you're thinking, and I"ll tell ya right now it won't work with me hahaha)
24. The mask used by Michael Myers in the original "Halloween" was a Captain Kirk's mask painted white. (I knew Kirk scared me for a reason)
25. If you have three quarters, four dimes, and four pennies, you have $1.19 You also have the largest amount of money in coins without being able to make change for a dollar (good to know.)
26. By raising your legs slowly and lying on your back, you can't sink in quicksand (and you thought this list was completely useless.)
27. The phrase "rule of thumb" is derived from an old English law, which stated that you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb. (was legal to abuse the poor woman - and men wonder why the feminist movement happened)
28. The first product Motorola started to develop was a record player for automobiles. At that time, the most known player on the market was the Victrola, so they called themselves Motorola. (hmmmm gotta watch the bumps on the road)
29. Celery has negative calories! It takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it to begin with. It's the same with apples! (oh yeah? bring on the peanut butter!!! hahaha)
30. Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you from crying! (I know another way to keep me from crying ... don't go near the onions)
31. The glue on Israeli postage stamps is certified kosher.. (shalom)
32. Guinness Book of Records holds the record for being the book most often stolen from Public Libraries. (awww the book itself has a record)
33. Astronauts are not allowed to eat beans before they go into space because passing wind in a space suit damages it. (besides, be nasty when they got back home and stripped - I know, groan all ya want haha)
34. George Carlin said it best about Martha Stewart .. "Boy, I feel a lot safer now that she's behind bars. O. J. Simpson and Kobe Bryant are still walking around; Osama Bin Laden too, but they take the ONE woman in America willing to cook, clean, and work in the yard, and they haul her fanny off to jail." (with that logic, I can't argue with George
For My Crackpot Friends
One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.
"I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?"
"That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."
"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."
Each of us has our own unique flaw, but it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.
You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!
Hey You !!
- Hey You !!!!
-
How ya doing? Great to see ya.
Hmmmmmmmmm
One of the hardest things I find to do is blog about myself. And if I carried on sort of a conversation-type-thing to do it?? Well, someone might find the closest padded room and throw me in it !! (ouch)
So now what?? I stare at a blank screen. Hoping the little pussy cat in the corner will talk to me and help me out here. But so far, he’s only stared at me, twitched his ears, scratched, cleaned a leg and I’m sure he’s contemplating a snooze any time now. Sheesh!! Ohhhhhhhh just great !! He’s got blue paint on his paws and decided to decorate. Hang on, I have to clean up before I can continue ….
Ok. I’m back. Now where was I??
Oh, yeah. I wasn’t anywhere, was I??
(looks around to see if something else needs attending to – nothing that can’t wait, darnitall hehehe)
See? If we were having a chin wag ala Tom (I_C_Y_U_R),, then I can and do come out with the darndest things and make you question your sanity talking to me. But I’m not good at a group setting and I’m trying to get that idea out of my head – that what I’m doing at the moment is talking to a group. Doesn’t matter if only one or two people read it. Just ask baba over on my friends list. I am mostly very quiet (for the most part *wink* ) in a chat room, but can be a little more gabby in an IM.
Soooooooooooo ummmmmmmmmm
Great to see ya.
Wait. I said that already, didn’t I?? ooopsies
Well, it is.
fiddles with hair and messes it up. Goes to bathroom to brush it – need to look my best for this ya know. Won’t tell you I’m having a lazy day and still in my nightgown and slippers (feet got cold – much prefer barefeet so my tootsies can breathe)
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry the other day. My son (was going to say kid, but as Ninja says in his questionairre blog, only goats have those lol) reminded me sooooo much of my dad when I was much younger. My dad, one night, was reading a book, listing to music on the radio, and had a hockey game going on the tv. Well!! There is my son …. Hockey game on the tv, headset on listening to music downloaded onto the PC, and surfing the web !!!! Okay, maybe a little more technology advanced than my dad at the time, but heaven forbid you turned the tv station on either one of them. (an experiment to see if they were paying attention that resulted in me getting an evil eye from the both of them – about 30 years apart hahaha)
Scary isn’t it??
Well. Maybe not.
I had posted a comment on Tom’s page about ‘wacky sense of humours being contagious’. But I got thinking about it and now am wondering if they are actually inherited instead. You know … a WSOH being passed down the gene pool sort of thing. And only because I’m not sure one can easily influence the type of anothers’ sense of humour. One either has a wacky one, a dry one, etc
There’s my dad. He can be out splitting wood for the wood stove. But when he sits down to tell you about it, you end up with sore cheeks from laughin’ so much.
There’s my son. He doesn’t talk (birth defect) but his wacky sense of humour comes out in his antics. Mostly when he’s bowling – the gestures – imitating Hulk Hogan at times (and others), flexing his biceps when he gets a strike etc. Dropping flat on his back when the ball goes way off in left field or something. Mom laughs while blushing. Good thing his teammates laugh..Most people do, but mom does have to stay on top of him that he doesn’t throw others off their game.
Then there’s me. And no, I’m not going to tell. Wouldn’t want to scare you off. Hahahaha
And the cat in the corner just went for a nap.
Hmmmmmmmmm sounds like a good idea. *wink*

*Angel food . Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times
*Brownies... You are adventurous, love new ideas, are a champion of underdogs and a slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up, you whip out your saber. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humor and direction. You tend to be very loyal.
*Lemon Meringue Pie... Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.
*Vanilla with Chocolate Icing ... Fun-loving, sassy, humorous. Not very grounded in life; very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad. However, you are a friend for life.
*Strawberry Short Cake ... Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people and can be counted on in a pinch. You tend to melt. You can be overly emotional and annoying at times.
*Chocolate on Chocolate ... Sexy, always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh.
*Ice Cream... You like sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to give up the remote control. You tend to be self-centered and high maintenance.
*Carrot Cake... You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.
*Cherry Pie... You have a sparkling personality, with a wicked sense of humor. You have an honorable idea of right and wrong and seek justice for all. Your love of art and technology give you many hours of pleasure. You don't make friends easily, but your true friends are
many.
So what's the verdict?? Did your dessert match the person you are? Mine did, but I'm not telling ..... yet. You first
