Nothing matters but the weekend from a Tuesday point of view

This Beat Goes On/Switchin' to Glide is actually two songs melded into one and released as one. Is almost six minutes long but I dare anybody to sit still for it haha :D

This Beat Goes On*
(Diamond- Zero)
Hey Judy, get Trudy
You said to call you up if I was feeling moody
Hey little Donna, still wanna
You said to ring you up if I was in Toronto
I have lots of friends that I can ding at any time
Can mobilize some laughs with just one call
Like a bunch of lunatics we'll act till way past dawn
Sure we'll be rockin' till our strength is gone
Yeah This Beat Goes On
Hey ladies you crazies
Me and Zero request you in the Mercedes
And then we'll ride so zoomy inside
The sky's the limit this time I'm Switchin' to Glide
I don't give a hoot about what people have to say
I'm laughin' as I'm analyzed
Lunatics Anonymous that's where I belong
Sure cause I am one till my strength is gone
Yeah This Beat Goes On
I have lots of friends that I can ding at any time
Can mobilize some laughs with just one call
Like a bunch of lunatics we'll act till way past dawn
Sure we'll be rockin' till our strength is gone
Yeah This Beat Goes On
Switchin' To Glide*
(Diamond-Zero)
Nothing matters but the weekend
From a Tuesday point of view
Like a kettle in the kitchen
I feel the steam begin to brew
Switchin' to Glide
Energy can be directed
I'm turning it up I'm turning it down
Even love can be affected
Harmony's the sweetest sound
Switching to Glide..Balancing in my head..inside of me...
taking the glide path instead.
Everybody gets the no-no
Hear it ringing in they ears
Lots of ways that you can go GO!
Look around NO disappears

Music ... part one?

One thing that saved my sanity a time or two since I was old enough to remember was music. Started off with just a cheap AM radio. Do you remember those? Before the FM band came along. If I remember correctly, my parents had a couple '78's. Remember them? We had nothing to play those old relics on until the day I got a turn table that looked like a suitcase that played the 78's, 45's, and 33 1/3's. I loved that thing. Eventually started adding to the LP collection. Unfortunately, money was tight and used whatever I made babysitting in town, to get LP's like Canada Gold, where more than one artist and group was listed. After amassing a few LP's and almost wearing out that suitcase turn table, I was surprised one Christmas with a new stereo. Separate receiver with AM/FM radio and an 8-track player, separate turn table, and two decent speakers. I wore out that turn table as I continued to add to my LP collection and took the whole lot of it with me when I finished high school and move out of my parents home to make my way in the world. I still have all those LP's, and had even added to the collection when others were 'throwing them out' sort of thing. I've gone through three turn tables over the years and hate that I can't listen to those LP's at the moment. I inherited my grandfathers' 6 piece stereo system and the turntable part has belt issues.

I would rather listen to music than watch tv. I've got my favorite radio station tuned in almost everywhere. My car. My alarm clock.  And if I need a change of pace, I pop in a cd into the dvd player hooked up to my tv and listen through my grandfather's stereo speakers. Or a couple dvd's of live performances (Eagles Farewell 1 Tour is a favorite). Or go on YouTube to find long ago forgotten artists and groups.

The one draw back to radio's, and compiled LP's, audio tapes, and cd's is that you only hear one, maybe two, songs of a particular artist or group. I missed so many good songs all these years.

Heard a song on the radio one day a few weeks ago and thought "oh yeah, I remember that song". Decided to look them up on YouTube. The song might have been their version of Spooky. Well, once I started clicking through other YouTube video's posted of them and discovering all the songs I didn't hear before, what with having multi-artist LP's, I fell in love with everything the Atlanta Rhythm Section had ever done with lead singer Ronnie Hammond and guitarist extraordinaire Barry Bailey (pictured). I'm looking for ways to get a hold of all their music from that time period. For now, I have to settle with clicking on the favorite option and put them in a playlist of their own in my YT account.

It might sound weird, but I don't need quiet, non-lyrical music to calm me down or to escape my own thoughts. I can do it quite easily with any kind, but my music of choice is rock or classic rock. Between my LP's and my cd's, my music ranges from the 60's to the 70's to the 80's to almost todays stuff in rock. I have some New Country cd's. Easy Listening like Enya, Enigma, Yanni. Groups like Three Dog Night, The Eagles, Van Halen, AC/DC, Neil Diamond, Neil Young, Metallica, Nazareth, Elton John, Big and Rich, Garth Brooks, Billy Ray Cyrus, Boney M, Pink Floyd .. I couldn't list it all here. And Canadian artists .. I tend to stay loyal and supportive of them. I haven't seen many concerts over the years, but the only non-Canadian one I saw many years ago was Chuck Mangione.

I don't know what it was about music when I was young. And I started quite young, running around outside with a little transistor radio. Well, I do know, but that's another story but maybe a little odd for someone as young as I was to immerse themselves in music like I did. I was the only one in my family and still am. And still misunderstood.

Music is ingrained in my soul. Never learned to fully play an instrument, guitar being my weapon of choice and still might learn how to play it one day. I was in grade one when I bugged my parents about music lessons and wanted to learn the guitar (yeah, even way back then). Just the local music teacher that taught students as young as me taught accordian. So I did do that for a year, until we moved and the travel back and forth was too much of an undertaking.

I do so appreciate the talents of others. Makes a stressful day a little bit calmer to deal with. Even if it has an up beat and I'm caught dancing or be-bopping around my living room.

I am set free.

What can you hold without ever touching it ?

Knock knock .. anybody home?

Okay, I know. Disappeared again. This time it wasn't so long though. A lot of stuff .. aka crap .. I had to sort out. No, I haven't got it all sorted out, but think I'm finally on the right path about it all.

I was driving myself crazy with the stress and frustration over that second job I had. How the bosses 'would not say what they mean and would not mean what they say'. Saying one thing, and then not backing it up with action. That bugs me more than anything. Do not tell me what a caring and compassionate company you are, then leave me feeling like you just kicked my son to the curb by your actions. I spent seven-and-a-half months part time, three-and-a-half months full time, a month-and-a-half back at part time, only to be kicked out mid-August when I chose my son over them. They just figured I would throw Billy into a group home as he was 'inconvenient' for me to work full time afternoons. I know, the idea was you have other full time drivers over the barrel, where they have to kiss your backside to keep their job. I refused to do that. They lied from the get-go and I said enough is enough.

Then I was trying to figure out what my purpose ... what was really the intention .. of joining a few websites. Blogger ... FB .. Multiply ... G+ ... WordPress. I was running around those sites feeling like a lost soul. Okay, there was a purpose to it all, but it sure wasn't clear to me at first. The blogging sites? It was hard to get it through my thick head that people would read them. If they chose to read whatever I put there. So old habits and training were getting in the way. I was afraid I would offend someone, inadvertently, by whatever I put there. So I just didn't. Well, barely anyways. The past continued to haunt me still. And one does not ditch almost five decades of training overnight either. So this isn't a lightbulb instantaneous moment here.

First there was the quote my friend Jeannie turned me onto a few months back, when it came to dealing with those turkeys at my second job.

Your actions speak so loudly, I cannot hear a word you say.

I liked it enough that I used it as a signature at the bottom of my emails in my 'biz' account, so those turkeys would see it as part of any emails I sent to them.

Then there was a beginning post (for me anyways) by a friend about being a procrastinator, which was right before being an introvert. Okay, I knew I procrastinated a bit too much at times. Is the way I am wired. But introvert? I had to find out more about it. Once I did the search on the web and read up a bit more about introverts vs extroverts, then it made a bit more sense to me. Could never figure out why I wasn't the party animal type .. why I wasn't the prolific blogger and being comfy as that .. why I wasn't the chatty Cathy type. Oh, I did realize that walking in to a room full of strangers would cause a mild anxiety attack, but never knew why I could be so different. Introvert huh? Okay, I understand things better now. Doubt I'll ever be an extrovert or do a great impersonation of one either, but I can make an attempt to get out of that box I stuck myself in though. haha

I came here to Multiply one night, a few weeks back, and started going through my old posts. Re-read a lot of them. Remembering the feeling I had doing certain ones .. how much I enjoyed doing those particular blogs. Figuring out why I walked away from the United Friends Challenge blogs. Why I would feel like my poetry was never 'good enough'. Just because of the way I do them? Yeah, that bothered me .. my style. I came back several times to read them. What was it about those blogs I enjoyed doing? What was it about those poems?

Got talking to Jeannie one night via her AOL/my AIM messenger. I forgot how the whole conversation got around to it, but I signed into Multiply here to copy and paste those particular blogs and my poetry into emails for her to read. And we talked about them. The 'aha' moment for me didn't happen that night though. I still had to figure it out.

Then I got an inkling of what was going on. Never mind I was afraid of offending anybody. I was afraid there would never be 'approval'. Approval? What? But I still didn't quite get it. Until I saw this quote on the web by accident one day ...

Better to write for yourself and have no public, than write for the public and have no self.
Cyril Connolly (1903-1974)

AHA !!!

That's what made those particular blogs and my poetry special. I didn't do them seeking approval from anybody for them. I didn't worry about offending anybody when I did them either.  I was being my quirky self those times. Oh, I know, my quirkiness sneaks out from time to time elsewhere, but I was too hung up on writing for 'others' most of the time. The expectation they might get read. And not getting read was bumming me out badly. What would they think of what I wrote? I was too conscious of other people possibly reading my ramblings. I wasn't doing it for my self, for my own pleasure.

Baby steps. I signed in today and immediately went over to the Sidewalk Cafe. After chuckling over the two 'picture challenge' blogs there, I decided to bring the third one here, to this place. Humor is a good place to restart. Humor and music. And maybe a bit of rambling from time to time :D

Pic Challenge anyone ?

Picture Challenge, should you choose to accept it ...

Write a caption for this. Whatever immediately comes to your mind when you see this.

I want to know how your mind works hahaha

No winners or losers here. Just a bit o' fun :)

Beautiful

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yes ?

Can something be beautiful and haunting at the same time ? Sure. Most definitely.

If you were to look at something, not knowing it's history or circumstances of how or when or why, would you still feel it is both beautiful and haunting at the same time? Guess that would depend on how you perceive things, in general.

Go into a museum and take a look at some of the artifacts there. If there wasn't a little plaque depicting the history of what you were looking at, would you see it as haunting while seeing it as beautiful? You might see it as old and beautiful. You might not see it as beautiful. But would you see it as haunting if the plaque didn't say it came from some battle site during WW1 or WW2 where many lost their lives?

Could you drive one of the highways in Northern Ontario, for instance, where there are many rock faces within a couple feet of the roadway, where one wrong move on your part, or someone else's part, would have you being rudely introduced to that rock face and still see the beauty? What if one of those rock faces had a small cross at it's base, where someone carefully and lovingly wrote out the name and date of the person that died in that spot one day? Would it still be beautiful, while haunting?

The online Free Dictionary web site defines haunting as ...

adj
1. (of memories) poignant or persistent
2. poignantly sentimental; enchantingly or eerily evocative

hauntingly adv

I'm a big fan of black and white still photography. You're not predisposed to thinking one way or the other because of colors assaulting your eyes. And I don't mean the pictures of grandma and your dad as a young boy, even though they would bring about a bunch of questions, my imagination, and wonder. I mean the pictures that were taken at a moment in time and you might see it differently than I do.

Look familiar? Not anybody I know, but think somewhere in the family photo archives, is a picture similar to this. It's beautiful, funny, cute, and one sees the clothes and the camera box and thinks about what that time in life might have been like (if one isn't old enough to have lived it, that is lol) But haunting? Not to me it isn't. Just a real neat black and white photograph of a time gone by.

Now what if you were told the history of those three kids, and it was such that brought out an emotional response from deep within you? Would you still see that picture the same?

What about this one ?

Just a street on a rainy day ? Sure. We don't know the history of why that particular street on that particular day was taken. The emotional response we get from it is that we like the look of it, the composition of it. Might imagine ourselves walking along an intersecting road, camera at hand, turning the corner and having this catch our sight. What a great photo it would make! you think. So you stop and take the picture. But having come across it in your thread or an image search, where no profile of it is available, would you see it as haunting? Maybe. Maybe not. Your past experiences, your life up to the point you see this picture, might determine that.

While I was perusing the web this morning, I went to Yahoo Canada for a peek at the latest news. No, I'm not interested in the Paris Hilton's, the Kardashians, or the like, so I'll skip over those. I'm not up on baseball or football, so I might skip those articles. Nascar? I mostly will stop and read anything about them. Hockey? Usually. Especially if it involves any of my son's favorite teams or players. The WWE? Yes, also because my son is a big fan. Politics? It depends on what the headline says. Person of interest stories? Maybe. News around the world? Maybe. All depends on the headline.

Then I came across a headline that really caught my eye. It had the word 'beautiful' in it, while mentioning a recent storm. The quick caption of the first couple sentences made me click the link. Hauntingly gorgeous? This I have to see !

It's a video that two men had shot in their neighbourhood. If one was to take the video as is or to break it down into still black and white photo's, it would remain beautiful. But if you didn't know the circumstances of why these two men took this video, would you still see it as haunting?

Nadine Bell of Yahoo Canada News says ... The words "beautiful" and "hurricane' are rarely used in the same sentence, but footage taken last weekend of Hurricane Irene ravaging a Manhattan neighbourhood is undeniably beautiful, it not haunting.

How often is a Manhattan neighbourhood this empty of traffic and pedestrians? I couldn't say as I've never been there. But I do think it doesn't happen often. Not even in the dead of night. The video shows an emptiness on the streets and in the subway stations. A cop slowly cruising down a street. A lone pedestrian off to the side. Very, very empty. If one didn't know it was taken during Hurricane Irene and not knowing it was filmed in Manhattan, one might just see a city experiencing a rainfall. The rain hitting the drenched pavement. Droplets off a metal railing. The wind fluttering plastic, signal lights, and signs. Just another rainy day somewhere. It's when you are told it was taken in Manhattan during Hurricane Irene that might cause you to see it differently .. see it hauntingly.

(Nadine Bell's words) Credit goes to Felix Thompson and Brandon Roots of Buffalo Picture House who shot the remarkable scenes from their neighbourhood, capturing New York City from a point of view we may never see repeated.

ARS - Do IT Or Die

Atlanta Rhythm Section

Don't let your troubles make you cry
Don't waste a moment wonderin' why
When everything goes wrong
You have to go on and do it or die

Do it or die now stand your ground
Don't let your bad breaks go gettin' you down
Even when times get rough and you've had enough
You still gotta try

Do it no matter what the people say
They don't even know you
Die before you let them stand in your way
Don't you know that

You should know that life is a gamble all along
Winners are losers who keep rollin' on
So go on and roll the dice you only live twice
Do it or die

Do it no matter what the people say
They don't even know you
Die before you let them stand in your way
Don't you know that

I know that life is a gamble all along
Winners are losers who keep rollin' on
So go on and roll the dice you only live twice
So do it or die

You got nothin' to lose just go on
Roll the dice you only live twice
Do it or die

One thing explained ? Revisited

I have just had a couple of interesting days. Oh? you ask (lol). It had to do with a post by one contact, where I had to lie ... yes, I said lie ... on how I met her. The instructions were to post it once I answered the request. And as with any writing challenge, whether it be a story or a poem, I have to feel it to do it, so it did take me a few hours to honor the request. Then I posted my own, got a couple good stories, one was re-posted on their site (to which I haven't repLIED yet lol) and another got her start from others. Taking what Sue put on my post, I touched upon her repLIE and ran with it .. same direction but different.

Which got the person that I got the post from, and I talking about the writers challenge group I once belonged to, and enjoyed while life was getting in the way. Digging out those stories for her, I was going through some of my older blogs before her and I became friends. And I came across a particular one.

I don't know if you visit my site itself, or read anything I post via the panorama feature of the inbox, but if you visit my site on a tab, have you ever noticed what the tab itself says?

Go on. I'll give you a minute in case you don't (haha)

When I first got to Multiply, my site title was not going to be Patti. Nope. Nothing to do whether I like the name or not. My site title was going to represent the journey I had been undertaking since I was about 43. I would say 'last year' but some of you have known me much too long here to get away with that one hahaha

Until a day or two ago, all it said was Lace. And yes, if you look at my site itself, you won't see it. 0px in the CSS code works wonders for that trick. You can only see it when viewing it as a tab. At present, it says Lace's Journey.

While I was over at Yahoo! 360, I had done up a blog about how "Lace" came about. When I landed here on the shore of MPLand, I transferred over the blog. Then one day, I tried to edit it .. make it more readable or something .. and totally wiped it out except for the picture. So I had to re-do it in a new blog.

I was reading it tonight, checked the viewing history, and realized that I didn't know most of you when I redid the blog.

Well? Just in case you had ever noticed the tab said Lace instead of Patti and wondered why, this will tell you.

Just remember, it was a few years ago that I made the original blog, and it was a few years later that I redid it, after screwing up the imported blog. hmmmm I just took a peek through the media locker, and the date of my first few blogs that I transferred over from Y! 360 the hard way (the import tool wasn't into being yet) was Nov. 14 '07. I'm here not quite four years yet ? wow That post doesn't say when I posted it originally though. No matter. I know how old I am hahaha

PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THESE INSTRUCTIONS: I would like you to comment about how you met me. But I want you to LIE. That's right, just make it up. After you comment, copy this to your own page, so I can do the same. I dare you lol

Sunset Thinking

Sunset Thinking

Do you ever watch the sunset
And just sit and think about things
Just you and the sky and darkness
Giving your thoughts some wings
Perhaps you've got some troubles
And don't know what to do
Or you just plain need to get away
To spend a little time with you
Sunset beauty makes you feel as though
Your life has meaning after all
To see a sight so extraordinary
Makes you feel capable, srong and tall
It’s funny how flashes of color
Like a sunset or sunrise can inspire
It can calm your inner self a bit
It’s a scene you can never tire
The serenity gives you a chance
To put things in perspective
Life can be overwhelming at times
And a sunrise can be reflective
So when the sky lights up next time
Let your gaze do some drinking
Soak up and the amazing sights
And do some sunset thinking!

Shhhh .... I think I'm being ignored

Shhhh .... I think I'm being ignored

I feel like being silly ...

What can I say? I felt like a good chuckle at quarter to five in the morning. Guess I shouldn't have that nap before I took the kid to the drive-in movie theater Saturday night hahaha

An update ...

I am so lucky on so many levels to have a good natured son that I never ever want to take advantage of the fact he'll forgive me almost anything. Even this afternoon nonsense, he seems to be taking it in stride at the moment as I had explained to him that I had no choice but to work at least three afternoons a week until school kicks in. Yeah, I did promise him that IF this outfit doesn't cough up two morning shift runs by the end of the summer, I will go back to the school bus and keep this other job as the extra mad money job.

But with the way it all happened, is it fair ? No. I hate that I have to walk out the door at 1:30 in the afternoon and leave him to fend for himself. For some reason, even though the number of hours are the same as the morning shift, it seems to be so much worse doing afternoons. Leaving him alone during dinner and into the evening. I'm not home long when he shuffles off to bed. I told my friend Jean that I really resented the fact that the Prez, my immediate boss, and Miss Prissy are at home enjoying a freshly cooked healthy meal while my son has to settle for microwaved reheated leftovers or canned pasta and sandwiches.

The boss said one day that the other drivers are upset with what 'she' did to me. I just said it's nice to know but doesn't do me an ounce of good. And when you think about it, anybody junior to her is fair game, knowing that the bosses will let her bump them whenever the mood strikes her, and they probably realize it.

This boss, and the office manager, both called me last Friday night when I was on the phone with my friend Jean. Call waiting display works wonders. I chose to not interrupt one phone call for another. When I retrieved the messages after 11, both were calling to see if I could work a shift on Saturday. Oh well, no big deal. I couldn't have done a Saturday afternoon shift anyways. Billy and I had a date. Besides, if I was willing to work a fourth afternoon shift, I might as well have stayed with four nights a week instead of doing just three.

The phone rings the next morning at ten to six. Yep, that would be a.m. I was too tired to see who it was, let alone answer it. When I got up later and checked the missed call, it was the boss (that I want to run over lol). He calls just a few minutes later. To get him out of my hair and to quit bugging me, I answered it. He wanted to know if I wanted to work the afternoon shift but because he couldn't get a hold of me, he found someone else. Well, gee, I wouldn't have worked it anyways. He then went on to say that they were in a pinch at the last minute. Oh? Yeah, Joe had been scheduled to work the morning shift but Miss Prissy (my friend Jean's name for her) decided to 'bump' him and he quit on the spot !!

Surprise, surprise. I saw that coming and you didn't?

I had emailed the Prez when I got bumped that the precedent had been set and the fun is just beginning. Sure enough. That's twice since Miss Prissy has tried the bump thing and screwing over a junior driver. She tried to bump me out of a July 1st morning shift (my last one too) because she didn't want to work that night. Too bad, so sad. I emailed everybody on that one and said I would not switch with her, being my last week of mornings. Bump a week later and we have a driver quit. Who's next ? Me? Quite possibly. I have decided to take the last week of August off as holidays, so when I finish my shift Aug 25th, I will come home and email the three bosses (Prez included) that as of September 1st (Sept 6 would have been my next working shift), I will not be working anymore afternoon shifts through the week. I haven't decided whether to pack it in altogether or just stay on for the odd shift on the weekend until I get something else to replace it. All depends on what happens over the summer, which way I go. I had entertained the thought that if I can put up with it as a part time weekend thing until he retires, then I might go back to full time if there was a spot available. Unless the Prez finally sets things to right, gets this guy to stop with the nonsense, retire, or make the office manager the driver liaison.

The other thing this boss is trying to do is get the driver that was hired just before me fired. The stories and the attitude towards her are just pathetic. I don't know if he's doing it because she is friends with the office manager, whom he hates with a passion, or, as I suspect, it's to get her out the door so there is nothing stopping me from getting the next available morning shift. Know what sweetheart? I don't want it under those circumstances. She is a good driver and is great with the passengers. She's got a lot more patience and friendliness to them than I do. Even though I try very hard, I still get asinine complaints. She's had two. I had five in one week !!

Okay, granted, I was a tad upset when I topped the hill just through the gates on my second last morning shift and saw what I saw, why she bumped me, so I did throw my stuff out of the bus after doing the paperwork. I had three customers on board and I had asked them permission if they minded I take them to do the switch instead of dropping them off first and they were fine with it. So it wasn't like I was upset with them. They just didn't know the stuff that had been going on and what I was having to deal with behind the scenes. The boss came to me the next day and said he got three complaints about me throwing my stuff out of the bus the day before.

What ?? Okay, I can see where one might have called but all three ?? Human nature is that not all three would have UNLESS provoked to do so. And supposedly, they called him directly on his cell phone. Riiiiiiiite. When the company's office number is plastered all over the bus itself ? I doubt they called him without provocation or she called him, mentioning I had three passengers on the bus when I threw my stuff out, and he made it sound like they called him. I wanted to apologize to those passengers in such a way as to find out if they did call, but I haven't seen them. And that was just a couple days after he came to me to say that he's had calls about me not being friendly (am so, I always greet the customers friendly when they get on and when they get off) and calls about how I'm not talkative. Well !! Gee whiz J, I thought I was there to do a job and I would think the customers would complain more IF I was so busy yapping that I totally didn't see them and drove right past them without picking them up ! Then he would have a reason to come to me about a concern.

Then, while I was in an email discussion with the Prez (as he's still out of the country), the only thing he mentions being told about me is that I have a lead foot. He's never heard of any other complaints. hmmmm interesting. Okay, I do have a lead foot at times, but in my own personal vehicle, not the company one. My emails to him were along the lines of why he should retire this boss of ours, without coming out and saying that. I just felt he really had to know what we were dealing with back home. Okay, I get where he might have not wanted to commit himself one way or the other about it, but the one email I got back from him suggested I just show him some allowances as he is old and will retire on his own soon enough. Yeah? Before he drags the company down and the town won't renew your contract in two years time? He could do a lot of damage in those two years as he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut to non-employees about what he thinks of the office manager, what our personal business is, and all the turmoil that is within the company itself. But it isn't his fault .. none of it !!

I have this countdown going. As of today, and taking the last week off, I have 18 more weekday afternoon shifts. When emailing my friend Jean, her return email had me down to 15 days (take the last two weeks off Patricia she says) and at the end of her email, she had me down to 14. After I called her on that Breaking News Story email, I told her that if she keeps it up, I won't be working past July 20th or somewhere around there lol

My cell phone is one of those pay-as-you-go things. I got it ohhhh about 6 or 7 years ago when my van broke down in the middle of nowhere, about 9 pm, and I had to baby it for about 8 miles to get to a pay phone. Not good at all. So I got this phone the next day, for emergencies. Old vehicles are prone to break down when they get tired. My cell phone eventually involved calling home to check on Billy when I was out doing a school charter. I eventually gave it to that boss and he's never abused it. If he couldn't get me at home and it was really really important, then he would call my cell phone, otherwise he wouldn't call it. I just had to remember to top it up with air time by a certain date or lose whatever balance I had left.

This transit boss ? He calls for the stupidest things. Doesn't matter if I'm home or not, he calls my cell phone. I don't have to worry about topping up before a certain date as my minutes don't last long enough. I have to top up long before. I'm lucky if a $25 top up lasts me three weeks, where it's meant to last two months !! Anyhoo, I keep my phone off most of the time, turning it on when I need to use it or if I am expecting a call for some reason, so I didn't have my phone on since I finished work last Thursday night, over the weekend. Tuesday night, I turn it on to call and check on Billy and I had three messages waiting for me ! Yep, the two that called my home Friday night, not reaching me, called my cell phone and left messages. The boss called Tuesday night while I was working and left a message about the bus going to the repair shop next Monday (injector issues). Sure enough, those three messages killed whatever little bit of air time I had left and I could not call Billy. While I am on afternoons, my cell phone is my only life line to Billy. He will not answer the phone by any other number. Only when my cell phone number shows up. So pay phones and borrowing a cell phone is out of the question. I NEED MY MINUTES. So, finding myself out of air time and being peeved about it is putting it mildly.

On a bright note, I haven't seen hide nor hair of the man, other than him leaving messages on two different phones. Wednesday night, he called and left a message (I had gone out and got more air time before work) where he says 'call me'. Oh for pete's sake. With the idea to get him to quit bugging me, I tried calling him back. Got his voice mail *rolls eyes*. Didn't leave a message and tried again a half hour later. Got his voice mail again. Screw this. I never tried again and he hasn't called me since, so couldn't have been too important.

My friend Jean suggests I look at the time I did spend working full time (three months) for this outfit a good thing in what I accomplished while doing so. And she's right. I managed to pay my mom the money I owed her, almost two grand, in full ! And that is HUGE in that with the school bus, it would have taken me a while, definitely. And I still was able to keep on top of all my bills. So, while I will miss making that kind of a pay, going back to the school bus will keep my sanity, or what's left of it, intact.

Breaking News Story !!!!

We present this live, breaking news story live from Wasaga Beach.  We are on the scene now where an alleged vehicular homicide has just occurred in the early evening hours.  This incident involves a transit bus and what has been described to us as an operations manager who did not posses any people skills.  It has been stated that this problem may well have lead to this occurrence today.  It appears to be a case of disgruntled staff here.  We are unable to confirm the name of the deceased, but we were able to interview several former employees of this bus line.  The gentleman is described by his former employees as being rather rough around the edges, an idiot and several other descriptive definitions which we are unable to air on our family program.  It has been reported that he has the demeanour of a rabid farm animal.  Some are calling this act a blessing while others are simply in shock.  Police have had to escort several staff members off the scene because they kept poking and prodding the deceased.  One husband of a current staff member was restrained from kicking the man.  They describe the driver behind the wheel as a calm and quiet lady.  It is difficult to see from our perspective here behind the police tape, but it would appear to us that she is rather jovial.  Our camera crew was shooed away by the OPP on site, but we were able to capture this single image.  We will bring you more as it becomes available.

My friend Jean sent me an email to find when I got home and she had me howling with this story. I laughed so hard I had tears running down my face. Of course, it didn't matter it was 11 pm, I just HAD to call her and thank her. What a great way to end my work week. I guess you can figure out what her nickname for that boss of mine is LOL And if you aren't sure, OPP stands for Ontario Provincial Police.

INSTALLATION OF THE HEART DRIVE

CUSTOMER: I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready to install now. What do I do first?

COMPUTER STORE REP: The first step is to,open your HEART. Are you able to locate it?

CUSTOMER: Yes, I have, but there are several programmes running right now. Is it OK to install when these are still running?

CS REP: What are the programmes running right now?

CUSTOMER: Let me see.... I have PASTHURT.HTZ, and LOWESTEEM.SYS, GRUDGE.BIN, and RESENTMENT.BAK all running right now.

CS REP: No problem. The LOVE programme on your new HEART DRIVE will automatically erase PASTHURT.HTZ from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent MEMORY, but it will no longer disrupt other programmes. LOVE will eventually overwrite LOWESTEEM.SYS with a module of its own called HIGHESTEEM.SYS. However, you may have to comepletely turn off GRUDGE.BIN and RESENTMENT.BAK. Those programmes prevent LOVE from being properly installed. Can you see a way to turn those off?

CUSTOMER: No, I can't. Can you tell me how?

CS REP: OK, my pleasure. Go to the START menu and invoke FORGIVENESS.EXE. Do this as many time as is necessary until GRUDGE.BIN and RESENTMENT.BAK have been completely erased.

CUSTOMER: Okay, I've done that. LOVE has started installing itself automatically. Is that normal?

CS REP: Yes it is. You should receive a message that says it will continually install itself for the life of your HEART. Do you see that message?

CUSTOMER: Yes, I do. Is it completely installed now?

CS REP: Yes, but remember that you only have the base programme. You need to begin connecting to other HEART DRIVES in order to get the upgrades.

CUSTOMER: Oh, no!! I have an ERROR message already. What should I do?

CS REP: What does the message say?

CUSTOMER: It says, "ERROR 412 -PROGRAMME NOT RUNNING ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS" What does that mean?

CS REP: Don't worry. That's a common problem. It means that your LOVE programme is set up to run on external HEART DRIVES but has not been run on your own HEART DRIVE yet. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in non-technical terms it means that you have to "LOVE" your own machine before it can really "LOVE" others.

CUSTOMER: So what should I do?

CS REP: Can you find the directory called "SELF-ACCEPTANCE.VIZ" ?

CUSTOMER: Yes, I have it.

CS REP: Excellent, you are getting good at this.

CUSTOMER: Thank you.

CS REP: You're welcome. Click on the following files and then copy them to the "MYHEART" directory: FORGIVENESS,DOC, SELFESTEEM.TXT, REALIZEWORTH.TXT, and GOODNESS.DOC. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and will begin patching any faulty programmes. Also you will need to delete SELFCRITIC.EXE from all directories, and then empty your RECYCLE.BIN afterwards to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

CUSTOMER: OK, I got all that. Hey!! My HEARTDRIVE is filling up with really neat files. SMILE.MPG is playing on my monitor right now and it shows that WARMTH.EXE, PEACE.EXE and CONTENTMENT.EXE are copying themselves all over my HEART.

CS REP: Then LOVE is installed and is running correctly. You should be able to handle it from here on. One more thing before I go....

CUSTOMER: Yes?

CS REP: I want to be sure that you understand that LOVE is FREEWARE. Be sure to give it, in its various modules, to everybody you meet. They will in turn share it with other people and you may even receive some really neat, unexpected modules and files in return.

CUSTOMER: OK. I will share it freely. Thank you so much for your help. Bye.

CS REP: Bye.

Here I am ...

This is the first week of being forced onto afternoons. And being that I told them I could not work Monday nights for the summer, I'm not working today. And of course, today is no different than when I did the school bus until the last day of the year as I'm out of the routine and feeling antsy. I should be doing something. Anything.

So I did a whole pile of housework yesterday, leaving washing the floors for today. So far though, they're feeling neglected. I'll get at them in a bit.

This afternoon nonsense was originally going to start last week, but I had sent that email out saying I couldn't do Monday nights or July 1st, leaving me with the three days only. It would have been only two days except I had to reschedule Billy's dental appointment. The third time I've had to reschedule it too ! Now that it's set for later in July, I'm wondering what surprises are in store so that I have to reschedule it a fourth time ! Awww won't happen. I'll just take the day off if it comes to that.

So now I'm off Mondays and Fridays for the summer. John sent an email to the Prez and office manager that it would be for a three month trial (into September) when I told him he didn't give me three months on the morning shift so he's not getting three months of this crap. Not sure if he realized where I was going when I said that. He'll find out in about a month and a half.

I had talked to Billy a few times about this afternoon stuff and I told him I had no choice. I just hope it's not too hard on him. This week will be the first week and definitely a trial run for the rest of the summer.

But here are my plans ... IF there is nothing written in concrete that there will be two morning positions opening up in the very VERY near future, I will just tell these yo-yo's that I CANNOT continue to do afternoons for the rest of my life waiting for an empty promise to happen and I'll go back to the school bus through the week. Tony (the school bus boss) has been very kind and patient. Not only did he understand why I was jumping ship to go full time elsewhere, he has even guaranteed me a full time run with the school bus in September if I go back. He didn't take me off the books, so to speak, so I still have my eight years in, and will go into my ninth year with this company. I'll just do the other thing on weekends like I did before.

The other thought I had too ... IF somewhere down the road, the Stayner run actually gets a definite nod and the transit company wins that bid AND they put one of the buses in Stayner AND I take the full time position for it, I want it in writing that, seniority or not, nobody is running me over without a care about Billy without my consent to do so. I'm not going through this nonsense again now that I don't trust it wouldn't happen again.

The one driver and the office manager are still saying 'no, don't do it Patti' when it comes to me going back to the school bus, but seriously? I'd be gone in a heart beat. The transit boss said to me one day last week that all the other drivers are upset at what 'she' did to you. I just told him, while that's nice to hear, it don't mean shit in the long run as nothing is going to be done about it. He then says 'I wanted to keep you on the morning shift'. So why didn't you? You could have, you know. No, Patti. She's got seniority over you. Yeah, and if the bosses had any balls, they would have seen the unfairness of it and told her that she made her choice in April and she's stuck with it.

I tell you, I wonder why I don't get handed a pink slip some days. Guess it comes down to I spent too many years as someone's door mat and I am sick and tired of it and don't want to do that game anymore.

And while all this has been going on, and I have been real upset about it, the driver that instigated this mess asked another driver about why Patti seems to be so upset. The other driver told her that 'Patti is just a sensitive type person'. Well, sure. I'm sensitive to being forced out of a convenient shift for Billy to one that is not convenient. But sensitive ? hmmmm

Last Tuesday, the boss comes to me and said he got a couple of customer complaints about me. What did I do this time ? Well, there was a call saying I don't seem to be very friendly. What ?? I'm very nice and friendly when they get on the bus. I'll say 'good morning', ask them how they're doing. Talk about the weather. All nice and friendly. Even wish them a 'good day' or a 'great day' or even an 'awesome day' when they get off. All nice and friendly. Then he goes on to say that he got a complaint that I'm not very talkative. WHAT ?? Oh for Pete's sake. I'm concentrating on my job !! If the customer wants to talk, they talk and I'll contribute to the conversation. Otherwise, I'm no chatty Cathy, that's for sure. He said he just told them that I'm 'reserved'. *rolls eyes*

So I'm sensitive and reserved. And trouble with a capital T still lol

The driver that wants days got on the bus one day in mid-switch and asked if John talked to me yet. About what? Friday. What about Friday. You and I are switching shifts. We are? Yep, I can't work Friday night. Funny, I told John two weeks ago I can't work Friday night either. She was not happy. Guess she made plans and wanted the morning shift as it is a statutory holiday and a great pay day for anybody working it. Screw that. I'm not switching and losing the pay for it. Told her 'guess the boss will just have to cover your run' (lol). I sent an email to the boss, the Prez, and the office manager saying I would not switch with her as it is my last week of mornings and I want to finish it !! Guess she tried her darndest to force the switch,so I met up with a very unhappy driver at 2 on Friday.

So last Thursday, when I pull into the yard to swap with this 'senior' driver, I saw something and got mad about it. The truth of why she's throwing her seniority weight around and shoving me onto afternoons. She's got one of the public works men as a boyfriend and he works days !! Won't tell you what immediately went through my head as it wasn't very nice, but still. For a boyfriend? I had customers on the bus .. three of them .. and I had been pleasant all day to the customers and had even asked these particular ones if they minded I just went to the yard to switch with the other driver as I was running late, so no, I was not upset with them at all. BUT when I saw what I saw and got mad, I threw my stuff out the door. Hey, it's my stuff right ? Anyhoo, the boss grabs me the next morning and said three people called him to complain about me throwing my stuff off the bus!! What ? Okay, human nature is that out of three people, maybe one will call, but not all three. And now that we know that this boss lies half the time and BS's the other half, I do wonder if the driver called him and none of those customers called. I see the one on a fairly regular basis, so I will have to apologize and in such a way as to possibly find out if they did call or not.

It's all been a royal pain in the patoot and a tad stressful. Why can't they just let me do what's best for Billy AND do my job too? Why do they insist on screwing everything up ?

Oh, I told the boss that I wanted the one drivers Sunday shifts when he goes on holidays to keep me as full time status, but that's only until the next statutory holiday happens in early August. I'll get paid for it without working it. But I'm still not signing any paperwork putting me back to part time status until I know for sure what is going on. The Prez will be back in August and meeting up with a driver's spouse. I soooo want to be a fly on that wall. I hope he meets with me/us as well.

I AM WOMAN !! HEAR ME ROAR .... ERRRR GROWL !!!

rofl

So now I'm wondering ... What are the celebration dates my friends choose to partake in? Mine is July 1st. My American friends is July 4th. What is yours ?

Wanted ...

Someone to run over my boss. Put him out of our misery. Puuulllleeeeezzzzeeee

lol

It's been just over a month since my first ramble of 2011. Time for my second one.

Now, now. Be nice. I can hear you groaning over there.

I think my boss, the one that hired me for that transit job, has lost his marbles. And I do mean ALL of them.

And is a wonder I didn't get fired. I'm a troublemaker, as you well know. Is my middle name ... trouble, with a capital T !!

I thought doing the seven to two shift was working out pretty good for the kid and I. I was doing a spare school bus run for the other one too, and still was home early enough to make dinner, do dishes, spend time with the kid, before heading off to bed before 10. Actually, it was working out great, as much as I hated getting up between 4:30 and 5, five days a week.

When I was a spare driver, I didn't see a lot of things ... issues, lies, BS, etc. There was the odd thing, but I didn't really notice the extent of things. Once I went full time .. even those three days a week .... it all started coming out and I thought 'what did I get myself into this time?' Holey mackerel batman !! And it just seems to keep getting worse and worse.

The transit boss that hired me is a good one for saying things like "it's my way or the highway" and he seems to sneak in hidden threats and throws an empty promise or two your way. He's told anybody and everybody that he started the transit business and even the president of the company works for him. He thinks nothing of telling the people he runs into in town all about our own personal business ..what he knows of it anyways.Tells one driver one thing and another driver the opposite. I tell you, we have no idea if we're coming or going, for pete's sake.

So, I got to the point that I accept half of what he says is lies and the other half is pure BS. Just keep getting up in the morning, getting ready, and do my thing until my shift is over. I learned the hard way that one does not question what he does or says either. You get a good dose of a dressing down if you do, and he doesn't care if he does it in front of customers. Strike one against Patti.

My problem is I needed the idiot job because of the money. Especially with summer coming and school is out, so no school bus to fall back on. Billy and I would be screwed financially.

One driver is telling me "Patti, don't give up. Keep fighting this". The office manager is saying "Patti. We love you. We need you. Don't give up on us and quit. The customers call with a very positive feedback about you." (awwwwww)

But one can only take so much of this. Know what I mean? And I'm at the part of my life where I don't want to take the crap anymore. Is why Fang lives elsewhere. Is why I'm not too worried about why my mother hasn't talked to me since February. Enough is enough.

Then the boss comes to me on Monday, June 13th and gave me very good news. *smacks forehead with a paw* He informed me that a driver senior to me, that chose the afternoon shift when we went the seven hour, five days a week shifts, wants to go to morning shifts instead.

What ??

She is senior to you Patti, he says. And he's granting her request. Was supposed to be as of June 27th, but now is a July 4th start date.  He expects me to do five afternoon shifts a week. Monday to Friday as that is the full time schedule.

But I can't do Monday nights !! I made a commitment to Billy, his friend, and his friends parents back before we went to this 14 hour a day thing and you knew that. If I back down on this, then the boys spend Monday nights at home as Billy's friends dad has a prior commitment, and I refused to back down.

So, you work Tuesdays to Saturday afternoons then, he says.

I can't do that to Billy !! Home alone five nights a week. Eating dinner alone five nights a week. And what with him going to the life skills program three days a week, I wouldn't see him at all for those three days by the time I got home and he heads off to bed shortly after that.

You want to stay full time status, you're going to have to do that.

Thought I was going to kill him. He knows about Billy. I told him Billy was special needs aka autistic aka intellectually challenged since the very first time we met a year ago. I told him that his dad is not in the picture and neither are other family members. There is just him and me. And we have talked many times over the year about Billy. I even brought up the concern about how Billy was going to handle me working afternoons without an introduction to it, to get him used to the idea, way back before we even started this new shift thing.

He says 'you don't give Billy enough credit. People like him adapt quite easily to things. They don't know any better.'

Yeah, I almost crawled through his van window that day and killed him then too.

Anyways, since I got the 'good' news, it's been an absolute nightmare. I sent him an email saying that, in order to get Billy used to the idea that I'll be working afternoons, I wanted to cut it down to three afternoons a week for the summer. And what with that particular senior driver working six days a week, I asked if she would be willing to give up her Saturday morning shift. I got an email back that didn't address one issue in my email or answer any of the questions. Never mind I didn't see hide nor hair of him all week either. So I forwarded my email to the president, who is on contract in Australia at this time.

Well !!! Strike two for Patti. The president emailed my boss and wanted to know what was going on. I got an email from my boss giving me shit for emailing the Prez when the man is '10 thousand miles away and can't do a damm thing to help you'.

Then he sends out this email to the prez, the office staff ladies, and myself, this past Sunday morning, about how I'm going part time and will need to sign paperwork to that effect yada yada yada ... that I was causing problems where there shouldn't be any as now other drivers are being affected and they have to be willing to take up the gap I'm creating yada yada yada.

Good thing I didn't get my hands on him that day either.  I never ever agreed to go part time and as far as I was concerned, it wasn't fair of him to tell me that is what was happening when this whole thing wasn't my idea and it wasn't me that created the problems he was having over it and we haven't even discussed possible alternatives.

He's at the yard Monday morning. How's it going Patti, he asks. Not good John, not good. Why? What's not good? You and I haven't met once to discuss any of this at all and now you expect me to go down to part time status. He never once considered me picking up a particular drivers twelve hour Sunday shift to keep my hours up to full time hours, as that driver is going away for the summer.  He tells me he thinks Billy is a great kid yada yada yada and understands my challenges with him but his hands were tied as 'she' is senior to you Patti. So if you understand my challenges, why doesn't anybody besides me stand up for him ? You sure didn't when this whole mess was introduced. I tried Patti, he says. Riiiiiite. I had also let him know that I checked into the Employment Standards Act and it says seniority bumping can only happen when there is a termination, a layoff, maternity leave, etc. Nowhere does it say a senior driver can bump a junior driver. She's only doing it because she's a *itch and wants to. (and yes, that went over like a lead balloon too lol) I told him that I did not create this mess for him to deal with. He did.

Anyways, it has gotten a whole lot worse since then. The president has sent out emails to all of us about the internal bickering ... how the director of operations should be liaisoning with the office staff for the good of the company etc etc. I was quite impressed with his email, providing he meant every word in it. He even included attachments of what the duties of the director of operations is, the duties of the office manager is, and what the duties of the office assistant is. Let's just say that the D.O. isn't following the guidelines, does half of the office managers jobs without telling her, and respect for other employees is nowhere to be found.

Then we come to yesterday. The transit bus I drive every day was missing from the yard when I got there at 6:40. The other morning shift driver said it wasn't there when she got there. Oooookay. Key was under the mat for the Sprinter so I started it up and started my day. The boss comes along just after eight when I got to my Walmart stop and says the bus should be ready by ten.

Is that a definite? I didn't want to go to the mechanics and find out it isn't ready. He says it should be. Got your phone on you? Yeah. Just let me turn it on. It's one of those pay as you go things? Yeah. I'll come to you instead. Okay. I assumed he would bring me the bus and we'd swap at Walmart.

Ten o'clock and no boss. Eleven o'clock and no boss. Twelve o'clock and no boss. In the meantime, the customers are complaining about the Sprinter. There is no automatic door on it. The customers have to open and close the sliding doors themselves and some do get pissy about doing it, to the point where they won't close the door properly and I have to hop out of the driver seat, go around the front to close the door myself. And what with some traffic conditions, it's not safe to do that. I swear, some drivers test to see how close they can come before actually hitting me, even though I do really watch for the right time to pop out of my seat. grrrrrrrrrr

Boss shows up at one o'clock. My last hour of my shift. He tells me what we are doing. Yeah, that right there is going to throw me off schedule and that's not fair to the customers standing in the rain waiting for me. Then three people come running across the Walmart parking lot, wanting the bus.  Yeah, they live at the opposite end of my route. So I made a suggestion of how to go about it and it involved calling in the woman (that started this whole afternoon shift mess) a half hour early, taking her to go get the thing and I'll just finish my shift in the Sprinter. Saying he didn't like that idea is an understatement. But John, I'm going to be twenty minutes behind schedule if I go with you to get the bus. So? Oh yeah, the customers standing in the rain are going to be very pleased to hear you didn't give a damm. He says he had been in meetings all day with the town representative and couldn't get to the bus or me before now. So why didn't you call the office manager and let her keep an eye on when it was ready and arrange for me to get it? (that would be the 'liaisoning with the office staff the Prez had in his email)

Strike three for Patti. Maybe I should stuff my mouth with cotton balls ??

He packs the three customers into his van (company logo on the sides). Tells me to meet him at the yard, to park the Sprinter, and then hop into his van and he'll take me to get the bus. Before or after you drop these passengers off. Before. Follow him to the yard and park the Sprinter. Of course, I'm upset as he's thrown my schedule off, it's raining to boot. I threw my stuff out of the Sprinter onto the wet ground, did up the paperwork for it, threw the stuff I didn't need just to go get the other bus, into my car, climbed into the van and he tells me when I get the bus, to park it in the yard and go home as I was upset.

Then, in front of me and the customers, he calls this other driver to tell her that the bus will be parked and locked up in the yard as "Patti is upset so I'm sending her home".

I swear, that man has a death wish lol

Like how dare he call her and tell her that in front of me and customers ??!!!! By the time I hit the yard with the bus to park it, I was absolutely livid !! The driver of the other route's afternoon shift had just got there herself, and she knew by the look on my face, how mad I was.

Uh oh. She couldn't spare but a minute or two so I gave her a quick version of what happened.I'm not sure when he did it, but he took the key off me for the Sprinter and went to get the other bus with it in his hand, but it was in the Sprinter by the time I got back to the yard. And yeah, I had trouble sleeping last night.

An hour later, he sends a nasty email to the office manager about everybody butting into his business and too many people want to know what he's doing when it's none of our business .. how he called the labour board two weeks ago to clear this seniority bumping thing was on the up and up (riiiiiiiiiiite) and that a driver can cause enough trouble on her own. She forwards it to me as an F.Y.I. email.

Then today was supposed to be a good day. A school had called the office and inquired about the transit company/buses help teach grade three and four students the procedures and whatnot about riding the transit buses. It took a bit of planning and co-operation with the boss and the president to do, which they agreed to, and could be done with very little interruption in service. Basically the transit buses pick up the students, the students pay their fare, and we take them down the road. Today they wanted to go to the beach, which is off route for me, but is on route for the other route.  Everything went great. When it came to picking them up at twelve thirty at Beach 1 and take them to Beach 5, that's where we ran into a glitch. And it wasn't us that caused the glitch either lol. It was the boss. He was to cover route 1's (not me) run for the hour because of the timing of it. He might have done half the route, but he didn't get all the customers, so several were 'abandoned' and not happy.

He had nailed me at twelve (a half hour before picking up at Beach 1) when I pulled into the Walmart stop, that this school thing is never going to happen again as we were inconveniencing customers yada yada yada.

Uh oh. But the students and teachers paid the fare to do this. Is part of the whole educational thing. But you went off route and you're not allowed to, he says.

Uh oh. Here comes trouble.

After I dropped the passengers I had at Beach 5 and turned the corner to get back on my route ... and the timing of it was turning the corner when I did put me on schedule lol ... the boss was just coming down the road in the opposite direction and saw me.

Uh oh. Called the office manager on the radio (she was driving the Sprinter for this) and told her I would call her in a few minutes and warn her about something. Okay, she says.

Called her a few minutes later and told her what the boss said while I was at Walmart and that he just saw me turn off 34th St onto Mosely. She says ok, thanks, she'll handle it.

I had time between my transit bus shift and doing a run for the school bus boss, so I checked my email here at home.

Uh oh. The boss sent a very nasty email to all of us about how we're not allowed to go off route and if it is a request BY ANYBODY we are to call him and ask for permission to do so and he'll let us know if we can do it or not. (we can get fired for going off route without permission, even though the day I trained, he called me and asked if 'she' had gone off route while I was with her .. no ... then she did it on her own yada yada yada and yet, she still works there lol)

Then there was this whole thing in his email about not doing the school thing any more as we are inconveniencing paying customers yada yada yada.

geeeeeeezzzzzzzzz

By the time I got home from the school bus thing, the office manager had replied to all (he sent it to all so why not?) , so I replied to all following her reply and said I thought it was a great community service thing we did ... educational .... future customers ... they learn about paying a fare (they did pay their way) ... they learn about asking for transfers ... etc etc etc. About listening to the kids excitement and how they'll teach their families 'the ropes' about riding the transit bus etc etc. The office manager replied (to all) about agreeing with what I said and how it's possible we might get more customers from those kids .. if their families are reluctant to take the transit bus for whatever reason at the moment yada yada yada.

But I tell you, I have wondered why the boss didn't just ask for my resignation. This so-called assumed meek and mild and doormat of a person he hired, isn't.

I've told Billy that I don't have a choice but to do the three afternoon shifts a week for the summer, or else there would be no money to drive him and his friend to baseball (they practice/play baseball with the special olympic team in Collingwood) .. there would be no money to give him so he could go bowling with his friend Thursday nights ... no money for anything, food included. Dummy me for using my pay to catch up all my bills instead of socking it away due to a termination of two jobs instead of a temporary layoff from the school bus.

Oh, and rumour has it, and I'm supposed to be forwarded an email so I can read it, but it is from the Prez about how he is the one in charge and not the boss the drivers have to deal with etc etc. I guess the boss was not happy when he read it. (any chance I could be an attachment back and forth for all this? lol)  It wasn't in my email when I got home but I hope to get it soon. I would be interested to read it. And from what I heard about it, maybe it should have been sent to all of us.

Enough is enough. The one driver who wants me to keep fighting and the office manager both know I am thisclose to calling it quits by the end of August and go back full time to the school bus if something isn't resolved and this particular boss isn't forced into retirement or something (he's 77) The Prez is supposed to be coming back in August and I am hoping he'll have a meeting with the drivers ... one on one even, due to the one pushing her weight around aka sucking up??  ... to get the whole story of what has been going on in his absence.

Sleepless nights, I've had a few. And no, I haven't taken a sleeping pill to help. I hope it never gets bad enough for me to consider a pill. Hey, if it comes to that, then it is time to call it a day and move on.

So just call me trouble. With a capital T !! hahaha
